AIRCRAFT

NANCHANG CJ-6A

Our aircraft has the registration callsign VH-NNP.  It was used by the Peoples Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) to train their fighter pilots before they move onto jet aircraft.  Powered by a Housai HS6 9 cylinder supercharged radial engine producing 285hp it is capable of taking off in less than 300m, a cruise speed of 280kmh. Radials are renowned for their power. They are also known for the smoke they produce on the first start of the day and the throaty sound they make.  They are described by some people as the V8 of the sky.

It is maintained in the authentic colour scheme of the PLAAF.

Our maintenance is carried out by a Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with extensive experience in caring for warbirds and other exotic aircraft.  We have one of the youngest Nanchangs in the world outside of China.  Your pilot will be ready to retire long before the aircraft reaches the flying hours that most warbirds have seen BEFORE they even start flying for adventure flights.  This is just part of how we approach this warbird operation to enhance safety.
